Sally Hudson

Board Appointed Governor

I am currently the Headteacher of Rise Carr College in Darlington, and have worked in education for over 25 years. I have worked in Further Education, mainstream schools and specialist 14-19 settings. I have worked across a range of ages from adult and community education to our current provision which runs from year 5 to year 11. I have taught a range of subjects including Business, IT and Maths. I have been a Head of Department and carried out a range of senior leadership roles in a variety of settings.

I have also been a school governor for over 20 years in three different schools including my own children’s primary school; I strongly believe that all children should have access to a really good, broad education that they enjoy. That they should be able to develop not only academic skills but also social and personal skills to ensure that they can have success in life and work. I am committed to working within Darlington, being a governor at Haughton Academy gives me the opportunity to work in a different way within the school, and to provide professional support and challenge to further improve opportunities for our young people.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking and cooking as well as spending time with my family.
